Long Ago and Far Away

I always wondered what happens to the kids when they grow up after visiting Narnia, Wonderland, Fantasia, Oz, Where the Wild Things Are, etc. I thought that would be really fun to explore. That’s how the project started but as I was writing it became much more than that. It became a very personal story about creating art, not giving up on your dreams, and about what makes us all who we are.

It’s a project that is near and dear to my heart, and I want to get it out into the world. I feel like I don’t even have a say in it sometimes. This is the one project that seems to just bug me about letting it out. I have been working on for many, many years. It’s been in and out of development with studios and animation houses but it never got to the finish line. And yet Long Ago and Far Away just wouldn’t let it go. It wouldn’t let me go. So it steered me into comic books (with the help of Mark Waid and Lori Matsumoto, of whom I am very grateful) And when the artist Fernando Pinto (who I met through podcasting, how about that?) started turning in pages I simply got a chill. This is what this world and these characters looked like. And they looked happy. Like they were finally being let out to play. I hope they entertain you. Thank you for your support.

Fernando Pinto is from Chile and has been writing and drawing comics for a while now. He also likes foods with tomato sauce on them. But who doesn’t? The world is flat. And tomato-ey.

The 8 issue series is out digitally from STARBURNS PRESS on ComiXology and is also available in collected book form and SIGNED  HERE IN THE STORE.

Long ago Jason was the “Child Knight” from our world who saved the Legendary Kingdom of Elvenwood from the evil Witch-Queen Nexis. Now Jason is a depressed 30, lives with his mother, and runs a comic book store. Poorly. But Elvenwood needs his help once again. Will he be the hero he once was? Or will he just make things worse because he grew up to be kind of a jerk?
